Frequently asked questions

Are my donations tax deductible?

Contributions made to "My Climbing Goal" via CMF Interational are tax deductible. Contributions made to "My Travel Expenses" via Mountain Christian Church are NOT tax deductible.

Tell me more... what will you be doing while in Africa for 14 days?

We are climbing Mt Kilimanjaro to help Missions of Hope International (MOHI) purchase land to build a camp outside of the city of Nairobi. "Discipleship Discovery Camp" will be a place where young people can get out of the polluted environment of the slums to draw close to God in the beauty of his creation. While they are growing spiritually through worship and Bible teaching the camp they will also learn how to care for all of God’s creation. An emphasis of the camp will be to teach young people sustainable agriculture, “green” practices, planting trees, and recycling. Before we climb Mount Kilimanjaro we will spend time meeting many of the precious kids at the school, doing home visits in the slums to pray with families, and worshipping with our brothers and sisters in Kenya.

What is it like to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro?

I've researched, read and talked to many people and there is so much to share about the climb. In short, it's a six-day climb up Africa's Highest Mountain at 19,341 feet. This website does a great job of sharing fun facts about the climb up "Kili," check it out: https://www.climbmountkilimanjaro.com/

Can I send you a check instead of donating online?

Yes, absolutely. To contribute by check to my travel expenses, please mail a check directly to Mountain Christian Church at the address below. Please add a note with my name on it so Patty knows which fundraising account to attribute your donation to.
